The ancient spiritual system of the enneagram describes nine ego types that arise as a result of loss of contact with our true nature. It also depicts how reality looks beyond the egoic self, giving us useful guidance in opening to a more fundamental dimension of ourselves. In this daylong retreat, we will explore how working with the enneagram can clarify our understanding of self and not self, cut through our obscurations, and deepen our practice. The material will be taught through lectures and experiential exercises so that participants can personally connect with the wisdom of the enneagram.

Sandra Maitri is the author of The Spiritual Dimension of the Enneagram and of The Enneagram of Passions and Virtues: Finding Our Way Home, to be released by Tarcher/Penguin in June 2005. She was one of the first students of Claudio Naranjo, and has studied and taught the enneagram for 35 years. She began sitting vipassana in 1971, living for two years at a meditation center in England. She is a senior teacher in the Ridhwan School, home of the Diamond Approach, teaching locally, in the UK and in Europe. She is a member of its leadership council and its director of teacher training in California.
Eugene Cash is the founding teacher of the Insight Meditation Community of San Francisco He is a teacher at Spirit Rock Meditation Center and he leads intensive meditation retreats internationally. His teaching is influenced by both Burmese and Thai streams of the Theravada tradition as well as Zen and Tibetan Buddhist practice. He is teacher in the Ridhwan School with A.H. Almaas. As a Ridhwan teacher he co-leads Diamond Approach San Francisco.
