My partner and three of my closest friends just all happen to be 6's. In fact, I seem to know a damn lot of 6's. I've often wondered if there isn't a greater number of them than other points - or maybe its a greater number of the inner triad (3's, 6's & 9's)? Perhaps, I've thought, the enneagram is actually even more of a tri-fold symmetry then we might think, and there are relatively higher percentages of certain points present in our society at all times, the same way that our biology regulates the births of males to females...
switching tracks a little... is it just me or do 6's have a tendency to be the most committed non-committals? grrrr.... With some things I feel I can bet my life on them and with other things i feel they just cannot be pinned down - its never in between. Maybe because making a commitment is such a major thing to a 6? There's just such a deliberateness involved. It's been very interesting to me to have been studying the enneagram and ego psychology for a number of years now and to also so intimately know so many 6's. This particular personality type has truly jumped off the pages of all the books for me and come alive as a much more dynamic, more intricate and complex configuration of Being that any of the other points. Sometimes I've noticed similarities about my friends that I haven't read about yet and I'll ask them what their experience with it is...
Also fascinating is the phenomenon of 6's tending to be one of the most psychic points on the enneagram. I have experienced this a lot! I'm curious what others' experience with this is. My partner is a great example. He's the first person I ever knew who not only can hear my thoughts quite often, he can also put his own thoughts in my head and I think they're mine at first. Its like his psychic aura is so powerful that when I'm around it I'm just swimming in it...
Anyway... enough of that... just had some thoughts and wanted to start a thread!

Re: Point 6 Ponderings...
Mon, June 9, 2008 - 9:56 PMCommitment scares 6s....like everything else!
I know lots of 3s and 9s....more than 6s even.
Plenty of 2s and 5s as well. It seems almost half the men I hang out with are 5s.
