Re: new here
Thu, April 15, 2004 - 1:43 PMreally did sound like me. im a mass communications major who is about to graduate and i still don't have a specific thing i want to do. in college, i have been involved in film, newspaper journalism, theatre (both acting and behind the scenes), guitar, singing, and broadcast journalism just to name a few things. to top it off, i HAVE to travel all over the world. so when i graduate im gonna try to get a job that lets me do that, like a job on a cruise line. im always scared im missing out on something better and to keep myself from wasting my experiences i usually avoid being tied down by relationships or any other situations at any cost. so, yeah, i'd say im a 7 all the way. -

Big surprise :-)
And I've played the violin, or rather, the fiddle, swedish folk-music, and math, and a consultant, and teaching, and...

Re: new here
Fri, September 24, 2004 - 11:41 PMI'm new here too - and thank you for the invite. I've only thus far taken the basic Triadic Enneagram test, but I came out a 7 with strong tendencies toward a 1. I'm looking forward to finally getting a more thorough analysis from the Enneagram Institute's tests.

Re: new here
Sat, September 25, 2004 - 8:55 AMi'm not new, but since the conversation has returned here, i'll say hi and that i'm a 4 with strong 7 tendencies.
the riso test typed me as a 7 predominantly, but it just doesn't fit as well as 4 (which came in a close 2nd). when i disintegrate, i go right into the 4 tailspin, and the traditional approach to enneagram was about tracking what you do when you're shutting down - that's the pattern. this was from claudio naranjo's book, a tough read but very very clear.
so i think the test will likely get your number in the top 3, but i don't think any test can be 100% accurate. you gotta trust your own sense of it, and be honest and read it all - you'll recognize your shit, afterall!
anybody else have thoughts on that?

Re: new here
Sat, September 25, 2004 - 9:12 AMInteresting - I'd always thought of the traditional approach to the enneagram being what you do on a daily basis - on how you approach things when all is going well.
The idea of looking at it from the idea of what you do when you're spiraling down is different to me.
I've had folks generally type me as a 5 or maybe a 7, based on outward appearances, but a couple of tests have put me as a 9, and based on how I handle bad situations, I am *so* a 9.
One big ball of "La, la, la, I can't hear you", that's me. -

Re: new here
Sat, September 25, 2004 - 11:52 AMLOL! you are SO a 9!
3-6-9 can be hard to type, and of course we all integrate the other qualities as we get older; that's the point....that's why, with the riso test, they recommend answering as you would have acted as a child or teen, because your coping mechanisms are more easily defined then.
