hi - i've facinated by enneagram for awhile and try to use it within my relationships, etc. but have been stuck because I'm not positive how to type myself. I feel evenly split between ONE and FOUR. I was a total four as a kid but now have grown into a ONE as an adult. My mom is a ONE and I'm wondering if I learned my new personality from her? Anyone have ideas for me?

Re: transforming from one type to another?
Fri, March 11, 2005 - 8:55 PMwell, I would say that as an adult you have internalized some of your experiences as a Four, looking at the enneagram; are you now trying to move to the Seven and what does that mean for you?
I am an Eight, my father is an Eight, but I learned from my mother to be an Eight differently b/c she is a Nine
don't confuse your behavior with what motivates your type... I personally don't like MBTI b/c people see the way the act/react and don't venture to examine why? enneagram helps me see this within mySelf and Others...
also, I like looking at the animals which sumbolize each type b/c transformations are easier to visualize in my own agenda...
don't know if this helps but thanks for the thread!
don't you hate this discussion, and really just wanna do something (about it)???

Thu, March 17, 2005 - 2:53 AMThe safe point of Four is One, and the unsafe point is Two. That is in a safe circumstances Fours become more like Ones - and that is also their path of development.

Re: transforming from one type to another?
Thu, March 17, 2005 - 6:28 AMOne of the books I have lists the test questions and the directions say to answer them how you were under the age of 25. I used to think I was a 4 but in recent years I am almost positive that I am a 5. The thing is, how I THOUGHT I was before 25 is probably different than how I view that time now.
